My role:
Project Leader assigned by Executive Project Sponsor –VP of CC

-
Recap:
This project required leading a team of internal auditors assigned by their department leader. Different business skills, experience levels, and general business knowledge levels made this an interesting and fun project.
-
We started with an “Intro to Audits” training session and proceeded with process maps review, or creation if required, followed by performing first round internal audits.
-
Documenting all finding (CARs & PARs) as well as assigning effort, impact, investment, and risk levels to each finding was critical.
-
Full team training of the “what and why” internal audits were performed along with scheduled reoccurring training was used to insure everyone understood the importance as well as the value. This was a continued improvement model and not a “assign blame model”.
-
I built a dashboard to be able to keep the executive sponsor and stakeholders informed of overall status as well as any potential risks, root causes, and resolutions in real time. I also included a success chart to continue the positive flow of the audits.
We passed the Customer Internal audit with a few minor findings.
My operations leadership skills, teambuilding skills, training skills, design skills, project management skills, organization skills and communication skills, problem solving skills, flexibility and calmness, along with end to end business unit management skills all supported the achievement of this project.
